This picture shows journey is numerous ways; for example, the train and the train tracks on either side of the subject suggest a long ride, from one destination to another. Moreover, the subject himself highlights on the idea of journey - he is walking away from the camera. which implies that he is on some sort of journey. The photographer has emphasised this through the use of depth of field, making the scene look longer and blocking out the end of the path with the subject - this makes the viewer wonder where the subject is going and engages them more in the image.

The theme of journey is shown in this image through the bench; the object gives out connotations of travelling or a short day journey. The path next to the bench highlights this even more, the muddy tracks and footprints gives out a countryside feel and suggest that a lot of people use this path on their journeys by foot or by bicycle. The sepia effect given to the photograph reduces the element of colour, removing distractions for the viewer. The photographer wanted his audience to focus on the symbolism in the image, rather than the techniques he/she has used.

This is a very meaningful photograph, showing journey through an individual growing up. The angle used for this image was well framed as the old photograph fits perfectly and replaces the parts missing from the bridge. It is not clear who is holding the photograph, but the photographer invites the viewer to guess - it was probably the child in the image who has grown up and revisited this bridge. The sepia effect on the old image allows the viewer to distinguish between the time difference as it contrast with the bright blue sky.

This photograph shows the theme of journey through different elements. For example, the element of colour is shown through the bright green trees all around the track, which represents the countryside and allows the train to stand out and show contrast both through the colours and through the connotations. The train symbolises the city, whereas the greenery in the scenery represents the countryside. This contrast shows journey and symbolises the transition between the city and the countryside.
